Highlands uses a number of subscription-based and free resources to support student learning.
Here is a listing of the resources that are used at different levels of the school.

Apps for Education

All teachers, staff, high school, and middle school students have a @highlandsinternational.org Gmail address and access to Google Apps for Education. Middle school student email accounts are limited to only permit email to and from specific addresses.

Apex Learning is a provider of interactive learning materials that some high school students use for their classes.

iCurio vets and catalogs digital information, and allows teachers to package and assign it for students to explore.

ALEKS

ALEKS is an adaptive tutorial resource that HIS uses to assist students who need remediation in math.

Khan Academy

Khan Academy produces micro lectures on several different subjects in the form of YouTube videos. In addition to micro lectures, the organization’s website features practice exercises and tools for students and teachers. All resources are available for free to anyone. Students can create their own Khan Academy accounts even if their teacher does not require it.

iCurio

Classroom is a new tool in Google Apps for Education that helps teachers create and organize assignments quickly, provide feedback efficiently, and easily communicate with their classes. All middle and high school students use this application.

Khan Academy

Class Dojo is a great way to track what your student is doing in the classroom, and it is a fast and easy communication tool between teachers and care givers. With Dojo points, students receive positive points for good behavior, and negative points when an improvement is needed. Every classroom at HIS is now using this application.
